Abstract: |
The purpose of this proposal is to develop a process to increase the life of transparent armor. The goal is to decrease the cost and potential mission delays associated with replacing delaminated armor. During the Phase I, Triton Systems proposes to demonstrate the feasibility of using a novel technology to increase the interlayer adhesion between the components of transparent armor. Phase II will further develop and fabricate prototype armor panels to prepare the way for implementation by the USN. |
Benefits: |
This work will represent a path to an engineered process to increase the lifetime of transparent armor made with many different materials. The process developed will advance the speed and reduce the cost of repairing armor in military and commercial products. |
