Abstract: |
xG Technology proposes in this Phase I Proposal a feasibility study for the Multiple Input, Multiple Output (MIMO) active antenna system that provides significant interference mitigation through spatial diversity and unique interference mitigation algorithms combined with a unique design for an electronically steerable antenna system. The proposed smart antenna module incorporates a spread spectrum signal that will enable MIMO processing on the receive end. In addition, an ARMY SBIR funded platform known as CHAOS (Cognitive Heterogenous Adaptive Operating System) will be added to provide cognitive sensing and a discrete signal to carry data hidden underneath the primary signal. This low power system further reduces the probability of detection, intercept and exploitation. The proposed Phase I effort will support the Phase II development of a flexible, programmable active antenna module capable of interfacing with AN/PRC-117G radio to deliver enhanced interference mitigation, spectrum awareness, and a decreased probability of detection and intercept. |
Benefits: |
A near-ceaseless demand for spectrum generated by evolving network technologies and increasing user bases dictates that technologies that define and foster effective spectrum coexistence will be in increasing demand in the commercial sector. The unique combination of expertise and innovation represented by xG and described in this Phase I approach can have significant positive impact on the development and adoption of advanced and efficient methodologies for such coexistence. In particular, a significant and present market opportunity exists among large user groups ?" both commercial and military/government ?" that are currently engaged in frequency transitions mandated by recent spectrum auction actions by the U.S. Government. xG estimates associated sales revenues of $50-65 Million USD and licensing revenues of $24 Million USD during the first 6 years of commercialization. |
